Watched a bunch of movies over the holidays, what? Don’t you judge me. Anyway, one was This is the End with Seth Rogen aaaannnndddd just about everybody else in movies these days, under the age of 35 (at least initially . . . and that’s not a spoiler, that’s what you call foreshadowing . . . shaddup).
Reminded me a bit of Shaun of the Dead, an amusing story of a group of people who are not former law enforcement, or bad ass rednecks with crossbows, dealing with the end of the world as we know it.
Let’s not beat around the bush here, the premise of a bunch of celebrities playing exaggerated versions of themselves dealing with the apocalypse is hilarious and the movie has tons of laugh out load moments, but I’m not going to lie – this movie is not for the fainthearted.
Initially I thought the crude humor while blatant was not out of context with the events, but yeah, that didn’t last long. Unless you are impervious to such things prepare to wince at the plethora of gross out humor moments. On the other hand, if you find such humor delightful – prepare to laugh uncontrollable and possibly lose some control of bodily functions . . .
